Obstetrician & Gynaecologist


Dr. Azra Ahsan, a renowned Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist. She provides expert, evidence-based services at Medicell, New Beginnings & OMI Institute. She is a graduate of Dow Medical College, Karachi, and is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, UK.  She has a rich and varied experience, having worked in the UK, North Africa, the Middle East, and Pakistan. Besides being a clinician, she also works in public health with the aim to improve maternal and neonatal health and reduce maternal & neonatal morbidity and mortality.  She is at present serving as the Technical Consultant and Vice President of National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMNH) and is also the President of Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN).

She is an honorary member of the Midwifery Association of Pakistan (MAP). Under the umbrella of these organizations, she is working on several initiatives and projects to improve maternal health and other reproductive health indicators. She has spearheaded the ‘Post-Partum Family Planning’ (PPFP) initiative in Pakistan. She has many publications to her credit and is a member of many steering committees, technical advisory groups and task forces, including the task force on population in Sindh. She has played a key role in developing and disseminating guidelines for training to achieve safe deliveries in all settings.
